They draw everywhere and anywhere — on the floor, on the walls, on furniture, and even on the ceiling. Have you ever wondered why children aged 2 to 5 love to draw so much?
It's because every day they receive a huge amount of information and want to share their impressions with us. And a toddler's vocabulary is still small — so it's easier for them to draw their feelings than to talk about them.
Drawings are letters from our children to us. In them, they tell us about their mood, dreams, fears, and made-up stories.
You should never forbid a child from drawing on walls or furniture — doing so can make them withdrawn or hinder their creative development. It's much better to create conditions for drawing. Here are a few simple ways:
- Chalkboard paint. You can paint a part of a wall, an entire wall, or, for example, cabinet doors with it. On such a surface, children can draw as much as they want, erase, and draw again.
- Discounted wallpaper, reversed. A budget option: we glue wallpaper with the reverse side out, and the child can draw on it with paints, pencils, markers. It's easy to periodically replace them. It's enough to paper the wall up to a height of 150 cm, and paint above that.
- Coloring wallpapers. Special wallpapers with pre-printed drawings that the child colors in, and then draws their own next to them. Very useful for development: the child learns not to go outside the lines of the drawing.
At this age, it's important for children to draw a lot. In the future, this will help them improve their speech, speak in complex sentences, and choose vivid images and comparisons to express their thoughts.
