Very often during the New Year holidays, I would invent fairy tales for children right within the home decor. One of them was once published by Salon Interior magazine, and I still have it with beautiful photos by the wonderful photographer Alexey Dovgan.
My idea was to create a Christmas and New Year atmosphere in the house — a real fairy tale and a miracle — and for the children to participate a little in it themselves.
I hid seven gnomes in the holiday decor, and the children had to find them. It was a small quest – but how exciting it was for them to search for them! Some of the gnomes (those you see in the photo) I hardly hid at all, and they remained in plain sight. But I hid four of them very well – and the children had to try hard.
I gave them riddle-clues: the older children guessed them and searched, while the younger ones, the tiny tots, found the gnomes that were in plain sight. So everyone was involved — each according to their ability, and everyone was happy.
You too can create an interesting fairy tale in your home and weave it into your New Year's decorations: create an atmosphere of celebration and intrigue, involve the children in searching and solving small mysteries. Believe me, such moments are remembered for a long time.
