In my experience, it's not uncommon for parents to design a child's room not for the child, but for themselves. It's important to them that the room looks stylish and trendy, in keeping with the rest of the apartment—the only difference being brighter colors and more toys.
Some harbor a dream of their own childhood room that never came true. And now they want to fulfill that dream for their child. But a child is not their parent. They are a separate, independent person. Perhaps similar to you in some ways, but with their own desires, and it's important to respect those desires if you want your child to grow up happy.
There are also other parents who are convinced that "they grew up just like everyone else." Nothing special was done for them in childhood, and everything turned out fine: they grew into normal people. To them, I say: when we were growing up, the world was different. It was less aggressive towards us. Today, a child is inundated with a huge flow of information that affects their psyche and health.
Our task is to protect them. To create a comfortable, safe, and personalized environment in the child's room where they can grow, develop, learn, live, and relax.
