Want to come up with an interesting pastime for your child that will also develop a whole set of skills? Specifically:

- vestibular system;
- logical thinking;
- sensory integration;
- concentration and learning ability.
Then pay attention to balance boards. And for so-called cerebellar stimulation, a separate board is used — the Bilateral Integration board.
Its history is curious. In the 1960s, American educator Frank Bilgoh noticed that after balance exercises, his students significantly improved their writing and reading skills. He developed a special program of exercises on a balancing board that enhances this effect.
Classes under this program involve several aspects at once that influence the formation of new neural connections. The exercises stimulate cerebellar function, develop cognitive abilities, support learning ability, and improve emotional well-being.
Bilgoh's methodology is applied to children from 3 years old — both for general additional development and in working with children who have behavioral, learning, or coordination peculiarities. In such cases, it is used as an auxiliary tool — in combination with specialists' recommendations.
Both the Bilateral Integration board and a regular balance board look like an unstable board on which a child maintains balance. Sometimes the board has a built-in "toy" — for example, a maze-like indentation where you need to roll a ball into a hole.
There are many such balance boards — some simpler, some more complex. There are boards with suction cups that make funny sucking sounds when moved. The child, trying to elicit more sounds, gets absorbed in the game — and doesn't even notice how they are developing balance, motor skills, and imagination.
There are no strict rules for using a balance board. A child can sit on it, stand, jump, spin, swing — in short, do anything their imagination suggests.
